KIRA: intelligent LED dental curing light
The KIRA curing light by Kiyomi Dental is a cordless LED device designed to provide efficient, uniform and controlled activation of light-curing dental materials.
Thanks to its broad-spectrum technology, KIRA can be used for the light curing of dental composites, the activation of bonding agents, the polymerisation of light-cured resin cements and the initial curing of dual-cure cements.
Broad-spectrum LED technology
KIRA incorporates an intelligent control chip that maintains a stable and uniform light output throughout the procedure, supporting precise and predictable polymerisation.
Its 360° rotating metal head emits light through four high-power LEDs:
- Three blue LEDs.
- One UVA LED.
The curing light operates across a wavelength range of 385 to 515 nm, enabling it to activate a wide variety of photoinitiators used in dental composites, adhesives and cements.
Its 10 mm head facilitates access to both anterior and posterior areas and provides a curing depth of up to 10 mm..
Six light-curing modes
The KIRA LED curing light features six operating modes to suit different materials and clinical situations.
M0, M1 and M2 intensity modes
These modes provide three selectable power levels:
- 1.000 mW/cm².
- 1.500 mW/cm².
- 2.300 mW/cm².
The adjustable intensity enables the light-curing process to be adapted to the material being used and the requirements of each restorative procedure.
Ramp mode
Ramp mode gradually increases the light intensity during the first few seconds until it reaches 1,000 mW/cm².
This progressive increase provides greater control during the initial stage of composite polymerisation and over the stresses associated with material shrinkage.
Pulse mode
Pulse mode emits intermittent light at a constant intensity of 1,000 mW/cm², making it suitable for procedures that require pulsed light emission.
Detection mode
Detection mode operates at an intensity of 600 mW/cm² and a wavelength range of 385 to 410 nm.
This mode facilitates the observation of fluorescent materials and can help identify caries, cracks, hypomineralisation, calculus and residues from restorative or luting materials.
Digital display and precise control
KIRA’s digital display shows the selected intensity and operating time, allowing the dental professional to easily monitor the light-curing parameters throughout treatment.
Lightweight, ergonomic cordless curing light
Weighing only 109 grams, KIRA provides comfortable handling, even during longer restorative procedures.
Its cordless design offers freedom of movement and facilitates access to different areas of the oral cavity. It also includes settings for left- and right-handed professionals and an automatic shut-off function after a preset period of inactivity.
