K-Bond Universal by Kiyomi Dental: versatile bonding for direct and indirect restorations

K-Bond Universal is an eighth-generation, single-component, self-etching, light-curing universal dental adhesive by Kiyomi Dental. Developed to provide reliable bonding in restorative dentistry, it supports self-etch, total-etch and selective-etch protocols, depending on clinical requirements and the substrate being treated.

The formulation contains the functional monomer 10-MDP (10-methacryloyloxydecyl dihydrogen phosphate), which promotes chemical bonding to dental tissues and various restorative materials. It is indicated for use on enamel and dentine, as well as at interfaces with composite, ceramic, zirconia and metal alloys.

With a bond strength to the tooth surface of at least 20 MPa and a film thickness of approximately 3 µm, K-Bond Universal combines adhesive strength with a thin adhesive layer. Its ultra-mild pH of 2.7 and its ability to penetrate dentinal tubules help achieve a stable bond and an effective seal.

It can also be used with light-curing, self-curing and dual-curing composite resin cements. Low microleakage supports sealing at the adhesive interface and helps reduce the risk of postoperative sensitivity.

    Indications for use

    • Bonding in direct restorations using light-curing composite or compomer.
    • Cementation of indirect restorations with composite resin cements.
    • Intraoral repair of ceramic, composite and metal alloy restorations using light-curing composite.
    • Bonding to various restorative substrates, including metal and zirconia.
    • Sealing of hypersensitive tooth surfaces.

    Benefits for clinical practice

    One adhesive for multiple applications

Its compatibility with different materials and etching techniques allows a single adhesive system to be used across a wide range of restorative treatments.

    Chemical bonding supported by 10-MDP

The functional monomer 10-MDP facilitates chemical interaction with dental tissues and certain restorative materials, such as zirconia and metals.

    High bond strength

A bond strength to the tooth surface equal to or greater than 20 MPa contributes to reliable adhesion in both direct and indirect restorations.

    Thin adhesive interface

The film thickness of approximately 3 µm promotes uniform distribution of the adhesive and minimises interference with the seating and aesthetics of restorations.

    Adaptability to the etching protocol

K-Bond Universal allows clinicians to choose between self-etch, total-etch and selective-etch techniques, tailoring the procedure to the requirements of each clinical case.

    Compatibility with different cementation methods

It can be incorporated into procedures using light-curing, self-curing or dual-curing resin cements.

    Dentine sealing

Penetration into the dentinal tubules, together with low microleakage, supports dentine sealing and helps reduce postoperative sensitivity.

    One-handed handling and formulation protection

The cap with a smart double-seal closure allows clinicians to handle the bottle with one hand, without assistance. Its design prevents ethanol evaporation and unnecessary spills, preserving the integrity of the formulation.

    Versatility in restorative dentistry

Its applications include bonding in direct restorations, cementation of indirect restorations, intraoral repair and sealing of hypersensitive areas.

K-Bond Universal by Kiyomi Dental combines ease of use and versatility in a universal adhesive system. The combination of 10-MDP, high bond strength and compatibility with different substrates and etching protocols allows clinicians to perform multiple direct and indirect restorative procedures with a single adhesive.
