b) Cookie types, purposes and functions:
Depending on how long they last, cookies can be classified as session cookies or permanent cookies. Session cookies expire when the user closes the browser. Permanent cookies expire based on when they achieve their purpose, or when they are manually deleted.
Cookies can also be classified as first or third party. First-party cookies are those that are sent to the user's terminal from a computer or domain managed by the website editor itself. Third-party cookies are those that are sent to the user's terminal from a computer or domain that is not managed by the editor, but by another entity.
Additionally, depending on their purpose, Cookies can be classified as follows:
Analytics cookies.- They collect information to evaluate the use you make of the website and general activity. Web analytics is the measurement, collection, analysis, and reporting of Internet data for the purpose of understanding and optimising website usage.
Social cookies.- Social Cookies are necessary for external social networks (Facebook, Google, Twitter, Pinterest, Discus, etc …). Their function is to control the interaction with social widgets on the site.
Technical cookies.- Strictly necessary for the use of the website, they allow the user to navigate through the website or application and use the different options or services that exist.
Personalisation cookies.- Cookies that allow the user to access the service with some general characteristics predefined in their terminal or that the user defines. For example, language, type of browser through which the service is accessed, selected content design, geolocation of the terminal and regional configuration from which the service is accessed.
Third-party cookies.- These cookies may be installed on some web pages to allow management and improvement of the services offered.
Important: Unless the user decides to register for the service, the cookie will never be associated to any personal data that could identify them. These cookies will be used only for statistical purposes that help optimise the user’s experience on the website.
