Root Canal Treatment on Tooth 1.3 Using BlueShaper PRO® with 1-Year Follow-Up

The predictability of endodontic treatment depends on multiple factors, but proper cleaning, shaping, and sealing of the root canal system remain the foundation for achieving stable long-term clinical outcomes.

In this clinical case, Dr. Irene Boullosa presents the management of a root canal treatment performed on tooth 1.3 using Zarc's BlueShaper PRO® files, combined with sonic activation of irrigants and three-dimensional obturation.

Initial Situation

The patient attended the clinic for a routine dental check-up. During the clinical examination, the presence of a sinus tract was detected, making a more thorough diagnostic assessment necessary.

Following radiographic evaluation, a radiolucent lesion was observed in the middle third of the root of tooth 1.3, consistent with an inflammatory process of endodontic origin requiring treatment.

Instrumentation with Zarc's BlueShaper PRO®

Based on the clinical findings, root canal treatment was indicated with the aim of eliminating the intracanal infection, achieving proper disinfection, and promoting the healing of periapical tissues.

One of the most important aspects in cases like this is achieving efficient instrumentation while preserving the original canal anatomy. To accomplish this, Dr. Irene Boullosa used Zarc's BlueShaper PRO® files.

The BlueShaper PRO® instrumentation system is designed to provide safe, efficient, and predictable root canal preparation. Thanks to the dual heat treatment applied to each file and their high flexibility, they can adapt to different canal anatomies while maintaining excellent control throughout instrumentation.

In this case, BlueShaper PRO® enabled thorough cleaning and shaping of the canal, facilitating the removal of infected tissue and adequately preparing the space for the subsequent stages of treatment.

Proper instrumentation is essential for optimizing the effectiveness of irrigants and improving the overall disinfection of the root canal system.

Irrigant Activation with Z-Activator

Once mechanical preparation had been completed, irrigants were activated using Z-Activator.

Sonic activation enhances the penetration of irrigating solutions into complex areas of the root canal system, promoting the removal of organic debris, dentinal remnants, and bacterial biofilm that may remain after instrumentation.

The combination of effective preparation with BlueShaper PRO® and irrigant activation helps maximize disinfection of the endodontic system.

Three-Dimensional Sealing with Zarc's NeoSEALER Flo®

After the cleaning and disinfection phase was completed, the canals were sealed using NeoSEALER Flo®.

This material provides an effective three-dimensional seal, helping minimize the risk of leakage and reinfection. Proper obturation of the root canal system is a critical step in preserving the results achieved during the disinfection phase.

Clinical Follow-Up of the Root Canal Treatment

Post-treatment evaluation showed a highly favorable outcome.

Follow-up examinations revealed complete resolution of the sinus tract and the absence of clinical signs of infection. In addition, radiographic follow-up demonstrated clear healing of the apical periodontitis, confirming the success of the procedure.

The recovery of the periapical tissues and the resolution of symptoms highlight the importance of a clinical protocol based on effective instrumentation, proper irrigant activation, and reliable three-dimensional sealing.

This clinical case presented by Dr. Irene Boullosa demonstrates how the combination of a well-structured disinfection strategy and materials specifically designed for endodontics can contribute to predictable clinical outcomes.

Zarc's BlueShaper PRO® files enabled efficient instrumentation of the root canal system, while irrigant activation with Z-Activator and three-dimensional sealing with NeoSEALER Flo® completed a protocol aimed at maximizing cleaning, disinfection, and long-term treatment stability.

The one-year follow-up confirmed healing of the apical lesion and the recovery of the treated tooth's health.
