Protaper Next by Dentsply Sirona is an extraordinarily effective, versatile, and flexible rotary file system for endodontists seeking to address the majority of root canal treatments.
The innovative Protaper Next system is the successor to the Protaper Universal system. This advancement represents a significant step forward towards a new generation of files capable of handling the most complex clinical cases, improving safety, and reducing shaping time.
The high cutting efficiency also significantly reduces shaping time, which in most cases can be resolved with just two files (X1 and X2). A shorter clinical sequence means less time changing instruments, allowing the dentist to dedicate more time to other procedures such as irrigation.
The unique undulating motion and the immense flexibility of Protaper Next files make it possible to shape narrower and sharply curved canals.
Protaper Next files feature an innovative off-centered rectangular cross-section that gives it a snake-like undulating motion as it moves through the canal. The rotation of an off-centered section creates a larger space for accommodating debris. This serpentine effect enhances canal tracking.
The M-Wire NiTi material gives the file greater flexibility while maintaining optimal cutting efficiency. This is achieved through the application of a novel heat treatment during its construction. Additionally, this material has higher resistance to cyclic fatigue, a leading cause of file fracture.
Furthermore, the risk of file fracture is minimized with this system, which significantly enhances the preservation of the original anatomy of the root canal.
They are available in sterilized packs of 6 units with the option to choose lengths of 21 mm, 25 mm, or 31 mm. It is also possible to purchase assorted sets of 3 or 6 files with the mentioned lengths.
The shaping files X1 and X2 make it possible to treat the most common endodontic cases. However, if their gauge is not sufficient when reaching the working length, the endodontist can switch to using larger-gauge files X3, X4, or X5 until the appropriate result is achieved.
