PROGRAMME OF THE "MODULAR ENDODONTICS" COURSE HELD IN GRANADA:

MODULE 1, Diagnosis, coronal access cavity preparation and rotary instrumentation

The course will begin on 16 and 17 February introducing the principles of endodontics, internal dental anatomy, endodontic pathology, diagnosis, radiology and CBCT. It will continue with endodontic prognosis and tips and tricks for absolute isolation, and will cover coronal access cavities and canal location, as well as the use of ultrasonics in cavity preparations, “throwing”.

To conclude the theoretical part, the topics of instrumentation and safe and effective practices, hand instruments in endodontics, catheterisation with hand files, how to approach entry into calcified canals, and rotary instrumentation systems will be covered.

In the preclinical workshops, we will perform canal location on opened teeth, coronal preflaring with hand and rotary files, instrumentation with rotary files and CBCT software.

MODULE 2, Obturation, canal irrigation and complex case management I

On 23 and 24 March, this module will deal with chemical-mechanical disinfection, different irrigants and their irrigation protocols and the latest trends. This will be followed by three-dimensional obturation of the canal system, a variety of materials, indications and techniques, bioceramic materials, and apexification and revascularisation. The theoretical part will be concluded with vital pulp treatment: direct pulp capping, pulpotomy, indirect pulp capping and management of large gauges.

In the preclinical workshops, we will try out various techniques for root canal obturation, and we will perform an apexification with bioceramic material.

MODULE 3, Complex cases, endodontic retreatment

On 20 and 21 April, this module will delve into the diagnosis and treatment of perforations and dental resorptions, handling curvatures and overcoming ledges and how to deal with instrument separation. It will also cover crown treatments, non-surgical retreatments and how to overcome obstacles such as fibre posts, metal posts and silver points.

Students will practice sealing a furcal perforation with bioceramic material, overcoming a simulated ledge in acrylic block and obturation removal (retreatment practice).

MODULE 4, Reconstruction of endodontically treated teeth

On 25 and 26 May, we will go into the characteristics, whitening and reconstruction of endodontically treated anterior and posterior teeth.

During the preclinical workshop, we will perform reconstruction of endodontically treated anterior and posterior teeth.
